Madz DVD to iPod Converter is a basic program, but that doesn't mean it's easy to operate. Just after start up the program quickly searched our computer for a DVD and then slowly scanned it (we were pre-warned by the program "please be patient this could take a few moments" ... and it did). Then we had to un-select all of the chapters we didn't want converted as they were all selected by default - this was was a bit of a hassle as we were converting a live concert DVD movie with quite a few chapters.

The actual conversion process worked well, although it was somewhat slow (even though we tested on a fast computer). The program doesn't have a preview window but one can immediately watch the converted movie on either Windows Media Player or Quick Time.

In our case it didn't seem to want to initiate on WMP, however we had no problem using Quick Time. The program converts NTSC as well as PAL - a nice feature. While it's quite a basic converter, it's also priced less than most others. This converter is relatively new on the market so we're not sure how the update situation will be.
